YOUR readers may not be aware that there is currently no specific legal protection for children with medical conditions at school in Wales.

Children, young people and families, who already face the daily pressures of living with a serious condition like Type 1 diabetes, asthma or epilepsy, are also having to fight for their rights to stay safe and be fully involved in school life.

Parents tell us that while some of these children and young people have excellent care and support at school, others are struggling every day to access education.

Now there is a real opportunity to make sure that children with medical conditions are safe at school, with the new Additional Learning Needs and Education Tribunal (Wales) Bill currently being considered by the National Assembly for Wales.

We now need your readers help to tell their local AMs how important it is that children with medical conditions are included in the Bill and protected by law.

It is vital that your readers share their experiences with local AMs and let them know the real impact this has on children’s lives.

Sharing your story today will help protect future generations of children and make sure they’re safe at school.
