Odd indeed

MP Alun Michael first admitted that some of his claims might appear "odd". Now, he is puzzled as to why he claimed £732.75 per year for his mortgage interest up to 2007 and £1271.43 thereafter (Penarth Times, June 25).

Therefore, he is now checking whether it should always have been the higher figure. If so, presumably he will claim for the £500 underpayments.

Should Mr Michael stand for re-election next year, he may discover that insulting the intelligence of constituents can cost a lot of votes.
