PICTURED are members of the Home Guard, taken at the gun sight at Sully during the Second World War in early 1944.
They are standing around a 3.7 anti aircraft gun and there are many WWI veterans in the bottom three rows.
In the top row, third from the left without his hat on, is my brother. There are also quite a few lads I was at school with at Cogan.
I hope that some readers may recognise their grandfathers and fathers and write in, as all those pictured would be local to the Penarth area.
I served for three years in the Home Guard but was not present when the photograph was taken, as I was by then in the ‘real’ Army.
