Play area joy

A RECENT letter to the Penarth Times (June 18) quite correctly bemoaned the missing swings at Victoria Playing Fields.

We have been lobbying for the reinstatement of the swings, together with a general improvement to the play area, for some time and are now pleased to be able to inform readers of the Penarth Times that the Vale council has agreed to upgrade the play area at a cost of £30,000.

While we would have liked the work to have been completed by the start of the school summer holidays, we recognise that such a huge investment will require planning and procurement processes even before work can start.

However, the work should be completed in the early autumn, bringing benefits to not only Victoria School but also to local residents and their families.
