In the good old days

HAVING grown up in Cogan and going to school there to the age of 14, I can remember what Penarth was like as a young lad growing up and going down to the promenade on a Sunday.

Pre-war there was a group of Austrians who used to holiday in Penarth and dressed in their native costumes. After the war they didn’t return to Penarth.

If they could see it now, they would think it was war damage.

It’s a pity that Penarth councillors in the past have let it get into the state it is in today.

Gone are the public baths, Esplanade hotel, and cafes from the Prom – not forgetting the car park.
