Food festival plans under way

PLANNING and preparation for this year’s GPG Penarth Local Food Festival is well under way with even more treats lined up than last year.

This summer the Festival is taking place on Sunday, July 15, from 11am to 4pm in the Kymin House and grounds.

Alongside the local food stalls the Festival will also feature acoustic music, a bread-making workshop and other demos.

More details and a list of participating stalls will be made available later this month.

In advance of the Food Festival, GPG’s next public meeting is on the topic Local and Sustainable Food.

The meeting is being held on Thursday, June 14, at 6pm at The Windsor Arms, Penarth. Several guest speakers will give their take on the subject followed by questions from the audience.

Speakers confirmed to date include Ceri Evans, a local forager; Dr Alistair Smith, a researcher from Cardiff University; and Gareth Tuesley, store manager of the Penarth Co-op.

There will be local nibbles to enjoy with your drink and as usual the meeting will include updates on GPG projects and activities.
