Pier is still ‘dilapidated’

DESPITE all the ballyhoo about the long-awaited renovation of Penarth Pier Pavilion (pictured above), the building is still in a dilapidated state and looking increasingly forlorn.

Although large amounts of lottery funding, donations and public money have apparently been provided for the project, nothing seems to have happened on the site since a brief flurry of health and safety activity back in February.

The recent gales have ripped the plastic banners publicising the renovation project, leaving them so torn and bedraggled it’s hardly possible to read the project slogan “Let’s Make It Happen”.

Perhaps it’s now time for a new slogan – “Let’s damn well get on with it”.
