Lesotho school head to visit again
9:10am Thursday 21st June 2012 in Letters
AGAINST THE ODDS: Godfrey Kakende head of the TY Junior Academy, receiving letters from Penarth delivered by from Nigel Gibbs, trustee of PADLT
HE’S back! Godfrey Kakende, head teacher of TY Junior Academy in Lesotho, will be in Wales again from June 26 to July 15. He continues to struggle against the odds to build his school, provide high educational standards and care for a large number of orphans alongside the other boarders at his school.
The visit will be co-ordinated by Penarth and District Lesotho Trust who will arrange a series of visits for Mr Kakende. Any group, school or organisation that would be interested in meeting Mr Kakende is invited to contact Lesley Cox, chair of PADLT, at lesleyjcox1@hotmail.com or call 029 2070 8952.
On Wednesday, July 4, at 7.30pm there will be an opportunity to hear Godfrey’s story and how he is progressing. There will also be a number of others who have visited Lesotho who will tell their stories and share their memories.
This evening event, Stories of Lesotho, will also be the launch of the tenth anniversary booklet, which contains a variety of images and memories from those who have visited Lesotho since the link was established in 2002.
Please come and join us for an evening that is not to be missed. Meet the inspirational Godfrey Kakende and hear the stories of those who have had the privilege of visiting such a beautiful country. All for a cost of £2, which will include refreshments.
We hope to see you there!
