Have a care for common
7:40am Thursday 28th June 2012 in Letters
DINAS Powys Common is the home of Dinas Powys Athletic Club and Dinas Powys Cricket Club. It is enjoyed by countless people, but abused by a thoughtless few.
Once again, we have been made aware of horseriders galloping across the com-mon in a dangerous fashion. Two large notices have been placed there by the community council, one at the Southra end and one at the junction of the Westra and St Andrew’s Road, asking riders to please keep to the perimeter of the common.
The mature gentleman who galloped across the common at absolutely maximum speed starting from near the rugby posts and finishing at the bottom corner near the church en-trance off Mount Road, did so on June 4 at about 3.20pm when there were many children playing, people walking and dogs being exercised.
He, accompanied by two young ladies, has been photographed and it is hoped to identify him.
Many people now carry mobile phones which have integral cameras.
We would be grateful if when people see the common being misused in any way, that they could photograph the miscreant and send a copy to the Clerk@theCommunity Council.org Dinas Powys Community Council Via e-mail
