Walk ten for a good cause
8:50am Thursday 5th July 2012 in Letters
I AM calling on readers to sign up and ‘Walk Ten’ for Marie Curie Cancer Care at Margam Country Park on Saturday, August 4.
Walk Ten is a series of unique 10k summer twilight walks and celebrations taking place at 25 beautiful venues across the UK, sponsored by home emergency insurer HomeServe.
It costs £10 to register in advance (£20 on the night so sign up early!) and under-16s go free with a paying adult, and everyone is then asked to raise as much as they can to support Marie Curie Cancer Care.
It only costs £20 for an hour of care and all the funds raised from Walk Ten will help Marie Curie nurses to provide more of this care to people with terminal illnesses in their own homes and in the Marie Curie Hospice, Penarth.
At the end of the walk, there will be picnics, music and fireworks for everyone to enjoy with friends and family long into the summer evening to celebrate the work of Marie Curie nurses.
Walk Ten at Margam Park will be a magical occasion and I hope many people will come along to enjoy it. Please do bring along your four legged friends for free as well – although do be aware there will be fireworks at 10pm.
