Ring return thank-you

ON WEDNESDAY, July 4, I lost my wedding ring for the first time in 42 years in the swimming pool at Penarth Leisure Centre.

I did not realise this until the following day, when a search at my home failed to locate my ring in its usual place. Retracing my movements led me back to my swimming session.

On telephoning the staff at the leisure centre, I was informed that a wedding band had been handed in. I drove immediately there to be reunited with my treasured wedding ring.

My thankful relief was obvious to the ladies at reception who were so very nice and empathetic and very pleased for me.

It is not known who handed my wedding ring in as found property.

So, through your letters page, may I say a very big thank-you to the very honest and kind person for their caring act in returning my wedding ring – which is irreplaceable – to me, and I hope your kindness is repaid many times over.

It is good to know that there are still honest people in our community, and local authority staff who also take care on our behalf.

With grateful thanks.

A very happy swimmer Penarth
