Litter team are welcome

THE news that XFOR is coming to Penarth to tackle the litter problem is indeed most welcome.

I wrote to the council in June this year to point out the disgraceful state of our town and in particular the area in Glebe Street where the kerbsides were overflowing with cigarette ends.

The response by them has been most gratifying by cleaning the area up. However already the area on the St Fagan’s side is beginning to deteriorate, so let us hope the swift action of a £75 fine will act as a deterrent for the perpetrators.

I would also like to commend the council for their action in giving the ladies toilets a much needed facelift by steam cleaning and painting them. I am sure residents like myself appreciate their effort in keeping our ‘garden by the sea’ a clean place we can remain proud of.
