Drivers - please show some consideration

CURRENTLY we are enjoying watching a wonderful Paralympic Games, with the athletes displaying inspiring levels of fitness, dedication and determination – often against great odds.

It is therefore with disappointment that I feel I must complain about the lack of consideration shown by some drivers towards disabled people.

Why do motorists have to park and obstruct the pavements, especially in those areas where crossing dips have been installed?

Frequently the only way to negotiate these obstacles is to use the main highway at great personal risk to both disabled people and the motorist. A plea to every motorist - stop, think and park in a safe and considerate manner.

The impact would be immense for wheelchair users and parents with pushchairs.
