Youth input into town

IN a new venture The Penarth Society is inviting members of youth organisations to an open meeting to share ideas on what they would like to see in Penarth. By working with the society, young people would have access to areas of expertise and avenues of funding only a registered charity could offer.

Perhaps there are pet projects where the society could help, as with a wide membership there could be experts on hand to give advice.

But first we must find out exactly how young people would like to see the town developing and what they would like their involvement to be. To this end, representatives of local schools and youth organisations will be part of a forum.

To date, members of Penarth Youth Action, Penarth Youth Project, the Vale Youth Forum and St Cyres School have agreed to take part. We hope parents and friends will come along.

In the past, youngsters have contributed material for a Town Trail (Trail No.1) and suggested uses for under-used or derelict sites – unfortunately with less success. But eventually ideas can bear fruit and this meeting is a chance to share those ideas and gain support.

The meeting will be on Wednesday, September 26 at Trinity Church Rooms, Woodland Place, Penarth at 7.30pm. All welcome. Admission free.
