Shame to see dog mess

WHAT a pity that so soon after the council installed a lovely children’s play facility at the bottom of Cawnpore Street in Cogan, many irresponsible dog owners continue to allow their animals to foul the park with seemingly increased regularity. Unfortunately this problem seems to be prevalent throughout Cogan, due to the wide open spaces of the recreation ground and the crass irresponsibility of dog owners – who either let their animals run freely or conveniently ‘look the other way’ whilst their pets foul the park, pavements or fields.
Only today i was left to ask what sort of person allows their dog to do this 15 yards from a busy children’s play area right in front of Cogan nursery school. My wife and I have contacted the council many times about this and nothing ever seems to be done. It’s only a matter of time until a child falls into a pile of this mess and suffers disease or infection as a result. It’s time for the council to get tough with irresponsible dog owners with large fines – perhaps given time they’ll collect enough to erect a fence to encircle the children’s play equipment, or at the very least a couple of bins to encourage dog owners to pick up their mess.
