RAF show for Battle of Britain next month

PENARTH branch of the Royal Air Forces Association is holding its annual fundraising drive for the Battle of Britain campaign next month, by doing something it has never done before.
The local club has been given permission by the police and local authority to host an afternoon of entertainment and performances outside St Fagans Hotel, Windsor Road, on Saturday September 14.
Among the acts already signed up are harmony group Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and Penarth entertainer Ray Thompson.
Club chairman Tony Parsons said: “We wanted to do something to commemorate the event, rather than just have a collection knocking about. But there is not enough space outside the Rafa club for the show, so we chose the St Fagans which is the perfect spot, and they very kindly agreed.”
The show will be held from midday to 5pm.
Donations will be accepted on the day.
*The RAF Association is celebrating its 70th anniversary this year. Set up in 1943, the charity provides help and support to current and former members of the Royal Air Force and their dependants.
