TO CELEBRATE the arrival of the long-awaited new play equipment on Dinas Powys Common, Dinas Powys Community Council invited Olympic athlete Hannah Mills to officially open the area and also to start the fun run .
The event, organised by Jo Macpherson in conjunction with Cllr Carolyn Mirza Davies, the chairperson of the Commons and Open Spaces Committee, saw many residents of Dinas Powys turn out in support. The money raised was in aid of the Dinas Powys Voluntary Concern.
The chairman of the Community Council Cllr Vince Driscoll and the chairperson of the COSAC Committee both set an example by running themselves.
After the last competitor reached home, the prizes were presented by the chairman of council and competitors then trooped over to the Dinas Powys Athletic Club which opened its doors to all in celebration of the event.
Isaac Follon, aged 11, was the overall winner of the fun run.
Alice Nottingham won the title of first child home.
