Ffotogallery, the national development agency for photography in Wales based at Turner House Gallery in Penarth, has joined a new digital scheme for charitable giving.
The local agency has partnered with the National Funding Scheme for their new initiative DONATE, which is designed to encourage donations to cultural causes through mobile phones.
Ffotogallery is the the first Welsh arts organisation to be involved in the scheme.
Director David Drake said: “Ffotogallery is delighted to be partnered with DONATE, giving our supporters the opportunity to contribute to the development of our education programme in an easy and intuitive way.”
The donations Ffotogallery receives through DONATE will be used to support its dynamic visual arts education programme, specifically by enabling us to upgrade equipment and facilities used by adult and young learners.
The ambition is to offer a fully equipped resource for artists and individuals who would like to print their own work and learn new skills and techniques.
Paul Cutts, Chief Executive of the National Funding Scheme:
“Since its launch in May, DONATE from the National Funding Scheme has been working with some of the most recognised brands in the English arts and heritage sector. We're delighted that Ffotogallery has become our first Welsh partner, proving that Wales' development agency for photography, digital and new media is as pioneering now as it was when it launched in the 1970s.
“At a time of real financial pressure for the arts, new technology offers a brilliant way for organisations to reach new audiences and find new supporters. Ffotogallery's lead will set an example for the rest of the sector in Wales and we're thrilled to be working with such a forward-thinking partner.”
DONATE has already launched in 12 venues and will be available across the country from the end of 2013.
