CARDIFF Half Marathon takes place on Sunday (October 6) and there will be some road closures in Penarth as a result.
The route comes into Penarth along Penarth Road, through Baron’s Court Junction and past Tesco, before continuing through the Marina.
From 8am to 11am there will be closures at Cogan Spur (in both directions with Penarth Road), Windsor Road (from Cogan Spur to Marconi Avenue), and Penarth Road (in both directions from Cogan Spur and Barry Road).
Closures will also effect Barry Road (south west to the junction with Penlan Road, but traffic will be able to exit from Penarth to the Merrie Harrier), and Llandough Hill (in both directions from the junction with Penarth Road).
From 8.45am to 11am, Marconi Avenue will be closed (in both directions from the junction with Windsor Road to the junction with Terra Nova Way), as will the entirety of Terra Nova Way (in both directions).
Penarth Portway will also be closed (in both directions between Terra Nova Way and the Barrage car park), and so will Paget Road, also known as Dock Road (in both directions, between Paget Terrace and Penarth Portway.)
First runners are expected about shortly after 9.15am.
Locking restrictions will be in place at the Barrage.
More than 19,000 runners will take place in the half marathon.
