GETTING in the Christmas spirit, Penarth Lawn Tennis Club is serving up some festive fun.

On Saturday, December 7 the club will be running special Christmas junior sessions. Children are invited to dress-up in festive costumes for on court tennis games and Santa will be making a welcome return to his grotto at the club at 11am.

Open to members and non-members, tennis starts at 9.30am for pre-schoolers, 10 to 11am for ages four to ten and 11am to noon for ages 11 plus.

Festive drinks and snacks will be served by the club's Caffeine Kid - otherwise known as Will Corby, third placed UK and first placed Welsh Barista Champion 2013 - with Christmas music and carols in the clubhouse.

The club's doors are open every Saturday morning to the public and the junior sessions have become one of the key attractions.

Junior sessions are available every Saturday provided by Vale Tennis Academy and are suitable for children aged 3three and up.

This year has seen the club complete a massive redevelopment of the tennis courts, floodlights and clubhouse before its 130th anniversary in 2014.

A spokeswoman for the club said: "Finally, a belated thank you to all of the members and non-members who helped us celebrate the club’s redevelopment back in June and the crowds who came along to the club’s most successful fireworks night ever earlier in November.

"PLTC would like to wish you all a very merry Christmas and healthy and happy New Year and we hope to see plenty of you at the club again soon."
