A PENARTH woman that sweated her way through every group fitness class on the timetable at Penarth Leisure Centre has raised more than £1,800 for charity.

Kath Fisher, 35, completed 40 hours of fitness classes in the space of a week in aid of the Marie Curie Hospice in Penarth.

Kath, who was sponsored and supported by a range of Penarth businesses to take part in the charity challenge, said: “I wanted to thank all of the local businesses that donated and supported me, and a big Thank You to all the members of Penarth Leisure Centre that gave me their support and kept me going through all of the classes.”

Kath, of Penarth Marina, added that the challenge wasn’t all plain sailing as she strained a muscle in her back on the penultimate day.

“I also got a cold on the fifth day and felt pretty ill with a blocked nose, but everyone was so supportive and helped me out,” she said.

“All I did was train, eat and sleep during the week, but it was all worth it.”

Kath, who was back in the gym within a few days of finishing the challenge, added she was delighted to raise more than £1,800 for charity.

“I didn’t expect to raise that much,” she said.

“I was hoping for about half of that.

“To top it all off I got Member of the Month too, which was a surprise and was very kind of them.”
