Large amount of jewellery stolen in house burglary

POLICE are appealing for information following a house burglary in Penarth, where a large amount of jewellery was stolen.

Sometime between 1pm and 3pm on Monday, January 13 a property on St Mark's Road was accessed via forced entry of a side door, and a security alarm was disabled.

The perpetrators carried out an extensive search of the house before making off with a large quantity of jewellery and foreign currency including US dollars, Euros and Trinidad and Tobago dollars.

Among the stolen jewellery was a Klaus Kobeck wristwatch with a distinctive blue stone in the crown, a triple diamond set engagement ring set in 18 carat gold, a diamond solitaire ring, a diamond and sapphire 18 carat gold ring with matching earrings, a nine carat gold gents wedding ring, a 22 carat gold plain wedding band, a Welsh gold daffodil pendant with a gold chain, a silver onyx and jade set necklace, a silver heart-shaped locket, a silver circular locket and a gold heart-shaped locket and chain, a pair of gold horse-shoe shaped earrings, a silver charm bracelet and a gold gate bracelet.

Detective sergeant Chris Warner of Barry CID said: “This burglary took place in the middle of the afternoon and there would have been a considerable amount of noise cause during the break-in.

“This was a very distressing incident for the victims. A lot of the stolen property is of great sentimental value to the owners.

“There would have been a considerable amount of noise caused during the break-in and we are appealing for anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious in the area of St Mark’s Road on Monday afternoon.

"If you have been offered any of this jewellery or foreign currency please contact the police on 101 immediately.”
