A CHARITY that provides free veterinary treatment to local pets in need is appealing for runners of this year’s Virgin Money London Marathon to support them and raise much-needed funds.

Fundraisers at PDSA are hoping runners who have secured their own place at the flagship running event in April will select the pet charity to receive any donations from supportive family and friends.

Brenda Smith, PDSA’s fundraising manager, said: “Every year the fantastic fundraising efforts of runners at the London Marathon enable PDSA’s vets and nurses to treat thousands of pets in need.”

Nationally, PDSA cares for around 400,000 pets a year, whose owners would otherwise struggle to afford veterinary care for their beloved companions.

Brenda adds: “If you’d like your marathon mission to help pets get the treatment they need, please call us today on 0800 508 8323 for more details. We’ll be there on the day to cheer you along and after 26.2 miles, our runners get to enjoy a bit of luxury, put their feet up and enjoy a sports massage at our post-race reception.”
