A CHARITY is urging people to join hands around a landmark lake in an event designed to support its work

The SAFE Foundation is inviting all who would like to help raise vital funds to turn up at Roath Park Lake, in Cardiff, and form a human link all around the park.

And it is appealing for Vale primary and secondary schools to get involved.

The charity works in the developing world to increase access to basic human rights like education, safe water and healthcare.

Former Stanwell pupil and Olympic swimmer David Davies is supporting the event which takes place at Roath Park Lake, Cardiff, from 10.30am on Saturday, February 15.

Participants are invited to collect a small amount of sponsorship for a three-legged walk.

The SAFE Foundation acting operations director, Mark Dickenson said the aim of the event was to raise the profile of The SAFE Foundation, introduce SAFE to a new generation of young people and raise as much as possible to ensure the good work continued as well as have fun.

He said: “We hope that this will become an annual fixture in our events calendar, and that we can build it up to include the Knap and Cosmeston lakes as well, but first things first, we'll smash this one first and then move on.”
