TY HAFAN is set to launch Wales’ first ever 5k Rainbow Run where runners will be plastered in coloured powder every kilometre.

Participants will be doused from head to toe in rainbow-coloured powder in the 5K fun run being held on Coney Beach, Porthcawl on Sunday, April 27.

The event, which is the first of its kind in Wales, is based on the Indian Holi festival of colour and is expected to raise more than £40,000 for T? Hafan, the Sully-based family hospice for young lives.

There are no winners, no official times, and only two rules: entrants must wear white at the start and be plastered in colour every kilometre.

Mair Jeffreys, event organiser at T? Hafan, said: “The Rainbow Run is not a race, nor is it about speed or fitness; it’s about celebration, having crazy fun with friends and raising a smile for T? Hafan.

“T? Hafan is a magical place, full of fun and laughter and not what you might imagine a hospice to be. We aim to make the very most of the precious time that our families have together. That’s why we think that the Rainbow Run is the perfect way to celebrate and support the work we do.”

Entry is £10 per person or £30 for a group or family of five (family groups must include at least two adults). Each participant is also asked to raise a minimum sponsorship of £50.

On the day, each participant will be given a bottle of water to start and receive a goody bag on completion, as well as a very special medal as a “thank you” from T? Hafan.

T? Hafan, which celebrates its 15th anniversary this year, has supported 585 life-limited children, young people and their families since opening its doors in 1999. The charity takes its support right into the family home and is there to help families through every step of their unimaginable journey. For T? Hafan to offer this unique service completely free of charge to families in Wales, it has to raise more than £3.5 million every year.
