Saving Sully action group urges residents to oppose housing plans

Housing developer Taylor Wimpey recently submitted plans for 350 houses to be built on land south of Cog Road.

In July last year the housing developer held a public exhibition showcasing plans to build 450 houses in the area.

A spokeswoman from the Saving Sully action group warned about the impact that any housing development would have on the area..

“If this development goes ahead, there will be significant impact on traffic and facilities in the South Eastern Vale of Glamorgan,” she said.

“Although the initial application is for 350 houses, the developers are keen to progress a further applications for another 100 houses on adjacent land and ultimately have their sight set on the whole plot which could potentially result in a total of 700 houses."

A spokesman from Taylor Whimpey recently said they had developed “a masterplan for the proposed Cog Road scheme” following the consultation and discussions with the Vale Council

He added: “The scheme has been designed to work within the constraints and opportunities of the site to create a sustainable development that reflects the character of the neighbouring properties and respects the village setting.”

The Saving Sully spokeswoman reminded local residents that they still had time to object to the plans after it was thought that the deadline had already passed

“Recent site notices published by the Vale of Glamorgan indicate that we still have until February 27 to lodge our objections,” she said.

“Anyone who wishes to make representations about the Taylor Wimpey Plans for Cog should write to; Head of Planning and Transportation at the Vale of Glamorgan Council, Dock Office, Barry Docks, Barry. CF63 4RT, quoting reference 2013/01279/OUT

“Or if you prefer send your objections via e-mail to developmentcontrol@valeofglamorgan.gov.uk

“Again make sure you quote reference 2013/01279/OUT.”
