TWO Penarth sisters that describe themselves as 'non-runners' have completed the Paris Half Marathon in memory of their father

Holly and Lucy Flynn, as well as their friend Lauren Hughes, completed the 13.1mile race on Sunday, March 2, in aid of the Marie Curie Hospice in Penarth.

“My dad, Will, died nearly three years ago and we wanted to run it in his memory and raise money for the hospice in Penarth,” said Holly.

“It was the furthest I have ever run and the last 5k was really hard.

“I had done a few runs with a Cardiff running club and they didn’t think I would complete it.

“My sister fell over too and knackered her knee but she still finished it in the end.”

Holly, of St Augustines Road, added that they chose to run the Paris Half Marathon as it was always close to their fathers heart.

“My dad really liked Paris so we thought it would be a nice place to do it and a good atmosphere there.”

Holly, 21, added: “I definitely used my dad as motivation as I wouldn’t have any interest whatsoever in running otherwise.

“I’m not a runner and I don’t even enjoy running!”
