A FORMER British and Irish Lion and two-time Olympian dropped into a book signing in Penarth.

Former London Welsh player and Wales manager Geoff Evans, who toured New Zealand with the British and Irish Lions in 1971, and 400m Olympian Gwynne Griffiths visited the book signing at Windsor Bookshop on Thursday, March 6.

Both sporting greats were in the same school, Llandovery College, as author Peter Griffiths, who was signing copies of his latest book ‘The Mystical Milestone’ at the bookshop.

Geoff, who now lives on Clive Place in Penarth, said that he enjoyed catching up with his former school mates.

“I bump into Gwynne quite regularly as he also lives in the area, but I haven’t seen Peter for about 40 years,” he said.

Gwynne, who took part in the Mexico 1968 and Munich 1972 Olympics and now lives in Penarth Marina, said it was only by chance that he had recently bumped into Peter Griffiths again when he was promoting one of his books on the Queen Mary cruise ship.

Peter, who is now based in Denver, said that his latest book was based on the “insidious nature of family feuds and how they can get out of control”.

He added that it was “wonderful” to meet up with old friends and that it had come as a complete surprise.
