A PENARTH mum is hoping a charity quiz night will help fund a specially adapted chair for her daughter who suffers from a form of cerebral palsy.

Vicky Spear, of Church Close near Elfed Avenue United Church, is set to hold the quiz and raffle at Eclipse nightclub on Windsor Road.

Her seven-year-old daughter Ruby Haxter, who attends Ysgol Erw'r Delyn, needs the chair to help her support herself when sitting at home and help improve her posture.

Vicky, 24, is appealing for local businesses to donate prizes towards the raffle as she bids to raise £500 for the chair, as well as £320 for special wheels to go with it to make it transportable.

"At the moment we have got a wheelchair and feeding chair, but we have got nothing for her to relax in at home," she said.

She added that the chair would also improve her posture and allow her to support herself sitting up.

During the fundraising quiz night at Eclipse there will also be a Lady Gaga tribute act, a drag artist host and a raffle.

Prizes include a big hamper, vouchers for Toby Carvery, Bombshell Boutique in Barry, BJ's Burger Joint and Juice Bar in Penarth, and bottles of wine and champagne.

Single mum Vicky added: "It would make a massive difference to her life as she would be able to sit comfortably in front of the TV and it would allow me to do things like the washing.”

The quiz night will be held on Saturday, April 25, at Eclipse nightclub from 7.30pm until late. Tickets are £1 each and are available at the event or online beforehand.
