A MAGNOLIA tree has been planted in the grounds of Dinas Powys Parish Hall to commemorate the life and works of former Councillor Mrs Nola Coxon.

The tree was provided by her husband, Arthur Coxon.

During the tree planting Mr Coxon spoke of how Nola had thoroughly enjoyed being a Member of Dinas Powys Community Council, firstly elected in 1983 and then Chairman of the Community Council in 1995. Councillor Mrs Coxon retired in 1995.

Mr Coxon also mentioned that his wife’s full name was Magnolia, hence the choice of tree, but she was known to all as Nola.

The chairman of Dinas Powys Community Council, Councillor Vince Driscoll, supported by Councillors Val Hartrey, Chris Franks and Keith Hatton, were all present at the planting.
