PENARTH community netball team PenDragons are set to celebrate their recent success in the Cardiff and District winter netball league with a fundraising event at the Old Penarthians rugby club on Friday, May 9.

Following on from their first event in October, the PenDragons will be holding their second fundraiser featuring a quiz, raffle, cake sale and other fun games throughout the evening.

Cash prizes are up for grabs in the quiz, while local businesses have donated a range of prizes for the raffle.

Tickets cost £5 per person, including food served during half time, and teams are limited to a maximum of six people.

Having competed in their first local winter league under the direction of coach Samantha Michael, rising the ranks and placing fifth in their division, the team is now looking forward and has joined not one but two summer netball leagues, Cardiff and District and the Vale of Glamorgan, to allow new players the chance to play and progress through the club.

PenDragons netball team has recently expanded with new members from Penarth, Dinas Powys and Cardiff, and the team have recently moved training venues to home turf at Ysgol Gymraeg Pen y Garth, Penarth, on Tuesdays, 7pm - 8pm. New members are always welcomed regardless of experience or ability.

A PenDragons spokeswoman added: “The sessions are a great way to keep fit, have fun and make new friends, plus the first session is free.”
