SULLY Adult Services (Scope) walking group decided to take on the challenge of walking a half marathon over five days to raise money for the centre.

This was a massive challenge as they were only used to walking a couple of miles once a week and now they had to cover 13.1 miles in five consecutive days.

On the first day they actually walked five miles, the furthest they had ever walked in one day.

Day one was at Cosmeston Lakes, day two was at Sophia Gardens, day three Roath Park, day four Penarth Barrage to Cardiff Bay and day five they ended at Barry Island where they finished with a round of applause from supporters and members of the public, followed by celebratory sausage and chips at their favourite fish and chips bar, O’Sheas.

There were a few minor incidents along the way (bottom slides, nose dives, massive muddy puddles) but it didn’t stop them from laughing or finishing the challenge.

They raised much-need funds for the centre and they were all feel extremely proud of this massive achievement. They now have plans for a full marathon next year.
