PENARTH Coastguard was called out to two people cut off by the tide over the weekend.

A Penarth Coastguard spokesman said that they were called to Penarth northern slipway at 8.20pm on Sunday, June 15.

“Upon arrival two people were cut off mid way between Penarth pier and Penarth Head. The casualties were recovered safely by our Coastguard Rescue Officers (CROs) and required no medical attention.”

He added: “If you get cut off on the northern end of Penarth beach, dial 999 and ask for the coastguard and we will open the gates so you don't have to climb the rocks and jump over the fence.”
