PENARTH Songwriters' Circle returns with another three talented singer songwriters on Friday, June 27.

The ever popular bi-monthly event will welcome fast rising young Welsh starlet Kizzy Crawford, the internationally acclaimed Jack Harris and velvet voiced Danni Nicholls to the stage at All Saints Church Hall, Penarth.

Merthyr Tydfil based Kizzy Crawford has been making some serious waves on the Welsh music scene since she first started performing a mere two years ago. A recent recipient of the BBC/Arts Council of Wales ‘Horizons - New Talent Award', the Welsh speaking teenager of Bajan heritage exudes a soulful, jazz informed bi-lingual maturity and multi instrumental talent far beyond her tender years. Hotly tipped and championed by BBC Radio Wales, BBC Radio Cymru as well as Radio 1 DJ - Huw Stephens who recently selected Kizzy to perform on this year’s BBC Introducing Stage at the Glastonbury Festival, her star is clearly on the rise.

Builth Wells born, Oxford scholar Jack Harris was also something of a teenage sensation when he first started to perform live. Jack won the highly esteemed 'New Folk Song-writing Competition' at the 2005 Kerrville Folk Festival in Texas when he was just 18 years old, becoming the first non-American to ever do so. He has since gone on to release 3 highly acclaimed albums. “Jack is a priest of song who holds himself to a rigorous, ancient code of beauty most of us have forgotten exists.” (Anais Mitchell – BBC Radio 2 Folk Award Winner). “In equal measures traditional and contemporary… A unique approach to song composition, utterly beautiful.” (Maverick Magazine).

London based Danni Nicholls recorded her debut album ‘A Little Redemption’

in Nashville, Tennessee, last year with Grammy award winning producer Chris Donohue (The Civil Wars, Elvis Costello, Robert Plant) and some of the best musicians in ‘Music City’. Danni will bring her Americana inspired song-writing and vibrant performance to Penarth for the first time and is guaranteed to melt your heart and the soles of your cowboy boots. Her passionate delivery, powerful, velvet voice and charmingly engaging between-song banter compel you to fall under her spell.

The 'Songwriters Circle' format continues to win great acclaim from both spectators and performers alike. The bi-monthly event has now become a popular fixture in the local music calendar, after bringing some of the finest song-writing troubadours in the country to Penarth. With all three singer-songwriters sitting side by side on stage, taking it in turns to perform, it creates a warm and intimate atmosphere that breaks down barriers, encourages unique collaborations and presents fascinating insights into the stories and inspirations behind the songs.

With yet another three gifted singer-songwriters on the same stage it's certain to be another special night.
