FILM crews from two popular TV productions have been recording scenes in Penarth this week.

Comedy drama ‘Stella’ has been based at Cosmeston Lakes Country Park from Monday (July 21) until Thursday (July 24), while medical drama 'Casualty' has also been filming in a property on Plymouth Road on Monday and Thursday.

Local residents received a letter warning them about parking disruption during filming earlier this week.

The medical drama, which airs on Saturday evenings, has filmed episodes in Penarth several times over the last few months.

Location managers have previously praised Penarth as a base for filming due to its range of settings and its close proximity to BBC Wales’ Cardiff Bay studios.

Crews filmed a short scene in Penarth town centre, from the corner of Stanwell Road and Victoria Road by Gentleman Jim’s and Cafe Nomad all the way down to Ed’s Acoustics by Penarth Railway Station, back in March this year.

They also filmed in a property on Stanwell Road in March this year too.

Comedy series Stella also regularly uses Penarth for filming, most recently featuring a romantic scene on Penarth Pier.

Fans of the Sky One programme would have noticed one of ‘Brenda’s Buses’ amongst the catering vans and film crew in the car park of Cosmeston for most of this week.

The hugely popular show, based in the fictional town of Pontyberry, has recently been commissioned for a fourth series.
