A PENARTH charity that supports schools in South Africa has been awarded £500 of funding from the town council.

Penarth Town Mayor Martin Turner presented representatives from the Youth Branch of the Penarth and District Lesotho Trust with the financial assistance at West House on Tuesday, July 22.

The Penarth and District Lesotho Trust supports three partner schools in Lesotho, South Africa. The Youth Branch of the Trust was presented with a cheque for £500 by the Town Mayor to go towards building a separate girls dormitory in one of the schools.

Town Mayor Martin Turner said “This is a sizeable donation for Penarth Town Council and we are all very pleased that the funds will contribute towards such a deserving cause.”
