IT was another excellent evening for the Dinas Powis Rotary Club at The Huntsman Restaurant in Dinas Powys.

Members and their guests being treated with a most interesting and informative talk from Catherine Campbell, the community fundraising manager at British Heart Foundation (BHF).

This is a charity that does amazing work that affects us all. They are spending 75 per cent of their money each year on research that has provided such great benefits to society such as statins.

We heard of their information work amongst those suffering from coronary disease with information booklets in coronary wards and clinics to provide information and reassure patients.

We heard of the BHF education work with attractive publications for all ages in schools, visits and projects that are helping to raise awareness of the need for a healthy lifestyle and the dangers of obesity. Not forgetting of course the amazing numbers of BHF Nurses providing specialist clinical help and skills.

It was good to hear of particular cases where BHF research and developments has help individuals. Catherine and Jayne were also able to speak from their own experiences of cardiac surgery.

A vote of thanks was given by Martyn Williams.
