PENARTH Bridge Club's Summer League trophy was won by Shirley Powell, with Ann Williams and Carol Cochlin in second and third place respectively.
Patsy Cohen, the 2013 champion presented the trophy to Shirley on Tuesday, August 12, with almost all of the Summer Leaguers present.
On Friday, August 15, the East Wales Bridge Association’s Claret Jug was won by Peter Millar and Trish Tracy (see second photo).
Joan Jenkins and Tim Barsby were second. The HCP prize awarded by the Club was won by Judy Collins and Francine Douglas.
On August 22 1972, Fern and Jock Middleton, with a few like-minded enthusiasts such as Barbara Wood and Jean Rattray started the group which was to become known as Penarth Bridge Club.
This Friday is August 22 and the Club will remember “Founder’s Day” with a simple event.
