TEAMING up with top Michelin starred chef James Sommerin, Westbourne School have created a truly unique event for parents and students.

Under theme “a unique education, a unique event”, Westbourne will bring together speakers from top universities across the UK to talk to students while soaking up the relaxed atmosphere of Mr Sommerin’s new restaurant on Penarth Seafront and sampling some of his unique, award winning cuisine.

On Monday, September 29 parents and students will hear from guest speakers and educational experts about how to get in to the best UK universities.

Renowned as the only school in Cardiff and the Vale to offer the prestigious global International Baccalaureate Diploma at Sixth Form, Westbourne, for the second year running secured places at top, Russell Group universities for 50 per cent of its graduates. And similarly to their 2011 graduating class, 50 per cent of graduates went on to study medicine or law.

Experts and admissions officers from Russell Group universities will provide guidance on the importance of selecting the right courses at GCSE and Sixth Form for those hoping to gain entry to their institutions.

The informal evening will be of particular interest to parents and students evaluating Sixth Form choices and for those starting their GCSEs or Year 7 in September 2015, but all parents considering an independent school for their son or daughter are very welcome.

During the evening parents and students will also be able to sign up for tours of the school, arrange taster days and register for scholarship and entrance exams.

Headteacher Ken Underhill said: “We are delighted to be partnering with James Sommerin and his team.
