A BIKE marking event hosted jointly by South Wales Police and British Transport Police, was a great success - with 58 bikes and three scooters making the most of the free scheme in Penarth.

In addition to cyclists people took along their laptops, mobile phones and tablets to be security marked.

While the bikes were being marked, security tips were given to cyclists by South Wales Police PCSO Gareth Parry in a bid to reduce and prevent cycle theft in the area.

Additional advice was given by PC Ceri Frost from British Transport Police on the safety of passenger property whilst travelling on trains.

PCSO Parry said: “We are delighted with the response from the community, who made the most of the security advice available and the bike marking.

“This was an opportunity for residents to meet with their local Police Community Support Officers in an informal setting and it was a great success."
