PENARTH Youth Action (PYA), the youth council for Penarth, had their annual team day on Saturday, September 13. The day involved laser tag games at Task Force, Penllyn, followed by a barbeque hosted by town councillors at the Kymin Penarth.

Following a recent influx of new members, the day was designed to help develop relationships within the team so that they could fully represent the views of young people in the town. Commenting on the day, members explained that the activities were a great way of getting to know each other and that they had all enjoyed taking part.

The barbeque was a perfect opportunity for the youth action members to discuss young people’s issues on an informal basis with town councillors. Councillors were also enthusiastic to hear young people’s views and ideas on local issues and services. Following the barbeque, a number of PYA members have said that they are looking forward to working more closely with Penarth Town Council to ensure that the views of young people continue to be heard.

PYA members are elected to the group by young people from schools and youth organisations in Penarth. In addition to monthly meetings and attending Penarth Town Council meetings, PYA is also involved in a range of projects to help improve services for younger people in the community.
