PENARTH Town Council is holding a commemorative event to mark the centenary of World War One at West House this weekend.

The event, which will run from 11am until 3pm, will remind residents about what life was like during the Great War.

Aside from the war memorabilia on display and military ancestry searches there will also be authentic family entertainment from1914.

While the grown-ups peruse the wartime displays children can play old fashioned games on the front lawn.

Games include hula hoop, quoits, pavement chalks, skipping rope and the cup and ball. Youngsters will also be able to sample delightful sweets and cakes from the era while listening to the brass band play on the front lawn. The event aims to transport residents back 100 years to get a glimpse of 1914 life in Penarth.

The event runs from 11am to 3pm at the council offices. Everyone is welcome to attend.
