CHRIS Bryant MP will be making an appearance at the Cowbridge Book Festival on Friday, October 24 to present his latest book Parliament – The Biography Volume II: Reform.

This second volume of Chris Bryant’s majestic biography has a cast of characters that includes some of British history’s most famous names: The Duke of Wellington, Sir Robert Peel, Lloyd George, Churchill and Thatcher. Its recurring theme is reform and innovation, but it also lays bare an obsessive respect for the past. It covers dramatic and often turbulent changes – the rise and fall of political parties, the passing of the old aristocratic order, the vote for working classes and eventually women and also the tearing apart of the world by two global wars. The book is a riveting, flawlessly researched and accessible popular history for anyone with an interest in why modern Britain is the nation it is today.

He will present his book at 7.30pm at Cowbridge United Free Church.

Tickets cost £5 and will include a glass of wine.

Tickets are available online from TicketlineUK or from the festival website www.cowbridgebookfestival.co.uk or phone Stella Cheeseman 01446 774827.

Upcoming appearances will be rugby legend Gareth Thomas with Michael Calvin on October 30 and Katie Fforde and author Jo Thomas with Lucy Owen on November 12.
