THE PENARTH Arts and Crafts charity is set to take over the catering franchise of the Penarth Pier Pavilion.

The cafe, which has been run by 5 Star Cafe Ltd for the last year, will be run by PACL from February 1, 2015, onwards.

Dr David Trotman, the Pavilion’s Director, said: “The Charity’s trustees and staff have been pleased with the service provided by 5 Star cafe Ltd., and have learnt so much over the last 12 months as to how a cafe can serve the community. However, we now feel that we are capable of taking on the opportunities that catering at The Pavilion presents and develop the focus for the people of Penarth as well as for the many visitors to our Pier, Esplanade, and town centre."

Justin Carty, Director of 5 Star Cafe Ltd, said: “ As a company we have learnt so much about the Pavilion’s cafe and its relevance to the people of Penarth and wider afield, we think it’s a good time for Penarth Arts and Crafts to develop its charitable aims from the standpoint of the cafe. We have all enjoyed working here and it’s not over yet as we have Christmas and the New Year to come."

Both Justin and David are pleased with the decision to proceed with the cafe plan, but it is not a “goodbye" between both organisations as 5 Star Chef will continue to work with The Pavilion as caterer for weddings and larger events with the order books filling up for 2015 and 2016, and enquiries for 2017 coming in on a daily basis.
