TO CELEBRATE White Ribbon day and to launch their White Ribbon campaign, the Vale of Glamorgan Council will be hosting an event next month.
On Wednesday, December 10 a campaign will be launched which looks to raise awareness and understanding of domestic violence, to provide services to reduce the number of domestic violence cases and to provide the local community with increased support and understanding of the issue.
The White Ribbon Town award was presented to the Vale Council at the Senedd in Cardiff in September, recognising the Council’s continued commitment to the aims of the campaign.
The event will follow directly on from the Domestic Violence Forum meeting that morning, and comes after the Vale Cabinet agreed to implement both a Domestic Abuse Policy and an Anti-Social Behaviour Policy, which will come into effect in January 2015.
Recently the South Wales Fire and Rescue Service became the first in the UK to be awarded the White Ribbon accreditation for its commitment to reducing and preventing domestic abuse in the South Wales area.
