PEOPLE in the Vale of Glamorgan are being advised to keep themselves, their friends, family and neighbours safe from carbon monoxide (CO), the ‘silent killer’ by getting heating and cooking appliances serviced.
During Carbon Monoxide Awareness Week which ends on November 23, Wales & West Utilities want people to take the opportunity to make sure they are safe from the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning.
The aim of the week is to reduce fatalities, incidents and ill health due to this poisonous gas.
With more people switching their heating on for winter it is ideal time to get heating systems serviced as there have been 62 carbon monoxide related incidents in the Vale of Glamorgan in the last 12 months.
If anyone smells gas, thinks they have a gas leak, or suspects carbon monoxide poisoning, they should call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999 and their engineers will be there to help, day or night.
