A PENARTH restaurant is hoping festive cheer will help it raise hundreds of pounds for charity.

The Harvester Schooner Inn, based on Lavernock Road, will be holding a number of fundraising events in the run up to Christmas in a bid to raise money for the Save the Children charity.

Staff will be wearing Christmas jumpers to work, there will be ‘Breakfast with Santa’ for children, and a ‘Man v Santa’ food eating challenge for the adults.

A series of fun games, a table top sale and visits from ‘Harvey’ the Harvester bunny are also hoping to raise money.

Qualified hairdressers Paige Harris and Katie Bertara, who both work at the Harvester outlet, will also be donating the £10 cost from every haircut they do in the run-up to Christmas to the charity.

Staff from the restaurant will also be attending the Christmas light switch on’s in both Penarth and Barry, along with the Harvey bunny, in a bid to raise money for charity.

A raffle featuring a signed boxing glove from Olympic boxer Andrew Selby is also set to be held.

Paige Harris, one of the leaders of the fundraising, said: “We want to raise as much money for the Save the Children charity as we can.”

The table top sale will be held at Sully Sports and Leisure Club on Saturday, December 6, between 9am and 12pm. To donate towards the cause text WXMW57 £5 (or any other amount) to 70070.
