A PENARTH pub has donated £1,500 to a local boy who suffers from cerebral palsy.

The donation will go towards intense physiotherapy and muscle strengthening to help little Alfie Porter-Smith support himself and live as normal a life as possible.

Alfie, who is now two years old, was born five weeks early with a rare form of cerebral palsy that meant his muscles were ‘floppy’ and he struggled to support himself.

His parents Fiona and Rod have since started fundraising in a bid to pay for his therapy and specialist equipment.

Digger and Mandy, from The Albion pub in Penarth, recently held a sing along charity night in a bid to raise money for Alfie.

David ‘Digger’ Gardner said: “The night was a brilliant success and we would like to thank everyone that sang and contributed to the raffle. We would also like to thank three little girls, Josie, Leah and Bella, for making jewellery out of loom bands and selling them for us. “We are pleased to have presented a cheque for £1,500 at the Albion last Sunday to Alfie’s mum and Dad Fiona and Rod. Well done all.”

The pub also hosts a charity quiz every Sunday, run by Richard, for the Tree of Hope.
