PENARTH resident Anthony Slaughter has been re-elected as Deputy Leader of Wales Green Party for a second year.

A recent ballot of party members also saw the incumbent leader Pippa Bartolotti re-elected for a fourth term.

Anthony Slaughter has been an active member of the Cardiff and the Vale Green Party for several years and was the Green Party candidate in the 2012 Cardiff South and Penarth Parliamentary by-election which saw the Green Party significantly increase its share of the vote.

Mr Slaughter has been involved with various community projects and initiatives in and around Penarth over the last yew years, and is currently chair of local environmental group Gwyrddio Penarth Greening and involved with the '20's Plenty for Penarth' campaign

Following the announcement Mr Slaughter said: "It is a real privilege to serve as Wales Green Party Deputy Leader and I am honoured and pleased to have been re-elected for a second year by our members.

"These are exciting times for WGP with the unprecedented surge in new members showing no signs of slowing down as more and more people recognise that we are the only party offering a real alternative to the tired 'business as usual' austerity driven politics of the mainstream parties.

"I am looking forward to another year of working together with Pippa and all our members across Wales to continue to build and grow our party and achieve the level of elected Green representation at all levels of government that Wales so badly needs."

Pippa Bartolotti added: "I am thrilled that our members have shown such extraordinary support to both Anthony and myself in this way. Members will know that our hard work and dedication will remain unfaltering as we strengthen our teams and expand our influence across Wales.

"With our powerful Green message of hope we will be gathering momentum right up to the general election, and our first seats in the Assembly are firmly in sight. There has never been a better time to join Wales Green Party."
