WOMEN are being encouraged to sign up now to Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life 2015.

Every hour, around two people are diagnosed with cancer in Wales and that’s why Cancer Research UK is calling on women to fight back against this devatasting disease by taking part in the 5k, 10k or Pretty Muddy events at Blackweir Fields, Bute Park over the weekend of July 18 and 19.

Last year, Race for Life Pretty Muddy took place for the first time. The new women-only, non-competitive 5k obstacle course, with mud, received a whole-hearted welcome from the thousands of women who took part.

Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life, in partnership with Tesco, is an inspiring women-only series of events which raise millions of pounds every year to help beat cancer sooner by funding life-saving research.

In 2014, 9643 women took part in Cardiff’s Race for Life and raised an incredible £435,000. This year, organisers need over 10,000 women and girls to stride out to help raise £492,000.

Money raised through Race for Life allows Cancer Research UK’s doctors, nurses and scientists to advance research which is helping to save the lives of men, women and children across Wales.

Cancer survival rates have doubled since the 1970s and Cancer Research UK’s work has been at the heart of that progress. But more funds and more supporters are needed to bring forward the day when all cancers are cured.
